Stone Measurement: 7mm x 9mm
A beautiful green stone, exhibiting layers with dark and light, often concentric banding. It is in fact a major copper ore, with substantial deposits presently being mined in Zaire and Zambia. When worn it raises the spirits and induces a general feeling of happiness. It is believed to alleviate asthmatic problems and toothache. During Medieval times those who wore Malachite were said to be protected from the power of witches. The stone afforded special protection for children.
Grey Mother of Pearl
Mother of Pearl is a smooth, shining, iridescent, organic substance forming the inner layer of the shell of some molluscs. This stone heightens intuition, sensitivity, and imagination and it is said to be a particularly potent stone for the protection of children.
This stone often contains golden flecks of pyrite (iron sulphide). These golden flecks on the deep blue matrix of the stone resemble a clear star studded sky and thus the stone was known as 'The Night Stone'. Its rich blue colour made it a favourite with royalty. Lapis alleviates depression, relieves heart and spleen problems. A lovely delicate stone the deserves care from its wearer, as it is sensitive to hot water and cosmetics.
The colour varies from pale yellow, to a golden colour, to a rare deep blue or black. It has been used for millennia as a decorative stone – both in jewellery and to decorate other objects. The oldest Amber dates back to the Carboniferous period, 320 million years ago.
Blue Paua Shell
Paua shell is formed from the inner nacreous shell of molluscs. It is the Maori name for edible sea snails. Paua shell is thought to strengthen and soothe the body, particularly helping with fertility and nurturing.
This is a silicate gemstone containing magnesium and iron, the deeper the green, the smaller the amount of iron present. Peridot can aid digestive problems and improve friendships.
