Turquoise
This stone has a vivid sky blue or green-blue colour, often containing grey or brown veins. It has been highly valued by many cultures. The Turks, after whom the stone is named, attached Turquoise to their horses bridles for protection. The Native Americans believed the stone to be 'the breath of life', symbolising the sky and reminding humans of their spirituality. When worn it strengthens the entire anatomy, brings wisdom and attract friendship. It brings happiness and luck, especially when given as a gift.

Rose Quartz
A popular semi-precious stone, consisting of quartz with traces of titanium. It is known as 'The Venus Stone', as it promotes love and friendship and makes the wearer more receptive to beauty. When worn, emotions are calmed inducing a feeling of inner peace and increasing self-confidence.

Sodalite
This stone is dark blue aluminium silicate interspersed with white calcite, found in Brazil. It encourages self-esteem and trust in others, fostering companionship.

Malachite
A beautiful green stone, exhibiting layers with dark and light, often concentric banding. It is in fact a major copper ore, with substantial deposits presently being mined in Zaire and Zambia. When worn it raises the spirits and induces a general feeling of happiness. It is believed to alleviate asthmatic problems and toothache. During Medieval times those who wore Malachite were said to be protected from the power of witches. The stone afforded special protection for children.

Black Onyx
Onyx, a form of chalcedony, is often artificially coloured jet black. It aids concentration and self-control, whilst also balancing male and female polarities.

Blue Paua Shell
Paua shell is formed from the inner nacreous shell of molluscs. It is the Maori name for edible sea snails. Paua shell is thought to strengthen and soothe the body, particularly helping with fertility and nurturing.

Leopardskin Rhyolite
An igneous rock available in a multitude of patterns, dependant on it formation, usually occurring in brown, reddish and beige colours. It is believed to be a strengthening stone and helps the body’s natural defence against infections and skin conditions.

Aquamarine
Aquamarine is an attractive clear silicate containing aluminium and beryllium and is found in Brazil, Madagascar and Zambia. In ancient times it was believed this stone would protect those at sea and promote clarity and calmness of the nervous system.

Moss Agate
Agate is a banded chalcedony, found in nodules or geodes in volcanic rocks. Agate can be found in a variety of colours and some have fern like patterns in them formed due to the presence of manganese and iron oxides.

Mother of Pearl
Mother of Pearl is a smooth, shining, iridescent, organic substance forming the inner layer of the shell of some molluscs. This stone heightens intuition, sensitivity, and imagination and it is said to be a particularly potent stone for the protection of children.

Labradorite
Labradorite is a feldspar mineral, which shows a play of colour called labradorescence, which results in spectacular colour changes. 'The stone of destiny' which help the wearer find their path in life.

Amber
Amber is often called 'The Gold of the North' - formed over 50 million years ago. Amber is the solidified resin from ancient pine trees. Many of these pine forests died, became covered by sediments and submerged by the Baltic sea. The heat and pressure of the overlying sediment transformed the resin into Amber.

Bloodstone
Bloodstone, also known as heliotrope, is a dark green chalcedony flecked with red jasper. As the name suggests, this stone is good for blood purification and detoxification and can also strengthen mental vitality.

Blue Goldstone
A synthetic stone created in Italy by monks practising alchemy. It is reputed to have healing properties due to its copper and gold content. It is believed enhance dreams and the will to do good.

Moonstone
This is a silicate stone containing aluminium and potassium and appears to have a milky sheen, with the best stones possessing a bluish hue. Moonstone is known as a feminine stone and assists with gentleness, receptivity, and intuition.
