Moonstone  is an Orthoclase Feldspar formed from cooling magmas  deep within the Earth. As the magmas cooled at differin g speeds so thin layers of the minerals Albite and Orthoclase formed . These minerals have different reflective indexes so light entering the stone is scattered in many directions creating the changes in colour known as adularescence and the lines and patterns within the gemstone. 

It is regarded by many cultures as the stone of femininity and is the birthstone for Cancerians and Gemini.  It may improve intuition and creativity ,providing a calming effect
