Blue Lace Agate is a form of chalcedony, a microcrystalline quartz. Silica rich solutions containing traces of aluminium hydroxide seep into cavities in pre-existing volcanic rocks where the minerals are precipitated slowly forming the characteristic pale blue banding  of this gemstone. 

Due to its delicate colour Blue Lace Agate has historically been associated with female goddesses such as Gaia , Aurora and Callista. A stone of peace and tranquility . Blue Lace Agate is thought to calm the mind and improve communication. A gemstone for Gemini and Capricorn .
