Topaz is a silicate mineral consristing of aluminium and fluorine, formed during the crystallization of igneous rocks especially granite and rhyolite.  

The name Topaz is thought to originate from the Latin Topazius meaning precious gem . During the Renaissance it was believed tha wearing Topaz would break spells and quell anger. Hindu folklore suggests that Topaz can bring wisdom and longevity.
