Mahogany Obsidian is  of volcanic origin , formed from very rapidly cooled lavas. This rapid cooling does not allow the formation of visible crystals . Obsidian that has inclusions of Magnetite or Haematite  exhibit mahogany coloured areas ahainst the normally black matrix.
