Oxidised Amber Bangle
Amber gemstone set in a sterling silver oxidised bangle
Amber is often called 'The Gold of the North' - formed over 50 million years ago. Amber is the solidified resin from ancient pine trees. Many of these pine forests died, became covered by sediments and submerged by the Baltic sea. The heat and pressure of the overlying sediment transformed the resin into Amber. Some amber pieces have inclusions of plants or insects, which were trapped in the sticky resin and subsequently fossilised.
