Tiger`s Eye is formed as a result of metamorphic processes within the Earth. Fibres of the mineral crocidolite are replaced by bands of silica. This creates the golden, red or brown bands of colour. Tigers Eye exhibits chatoyancy which means that as it is moved  and reflects the light it gleams like the eye of a tiger.

Tiger`s Eye was worn as an amulet by Roman soldiers . The gemstones were placed on the breast plate of the soldier`s armour. Tiger`s Eye is thought  to release anxieties. aid harmony, improve decision making and confidence.  It is one of the birthstones for Leo and Gemini.
