Merlinite is also kown as Dendritic Agate.  It is an intrusive igneous rock consisting of white opalised agate with black and grey  tree like dendrites of psilomelane a black manganese oxide.  Cornwall has a deep association with Arthurian legends and myths relating to the sorcerer Merlin hence the name Merlinite evolved.
